Mirror Lake
Mirror Lake is a one mile hike from the Horse Stables at the east end of Yosemite Valley. When the park isn't too full you can park in the stables' parking area, but when the stables are open for business, or when the park is too crowded, it's best to take the free park shuttle to the stables.
The walk to Mirror Lake (technically it isn't a lake, but we won't quibble over details here), is a relatively easy uphill trip on a paved service road, though the last few hundred yards are fairly steep. Many people ride their bikes, and autos with handicapped stickers or plates can drive. The route parallels Tenaya Creek for much of the way, with lots of nice opportunities to photograph rapids and cascades. Note also that the lake and creek dry in late summer and fall. You'll definitely need your wide angle at the lake, though a telephoto is handy along the creek.
